Farmers' Market 101

Eating fresh, local produce is not only good for your health, but also for our communities and local farmers. Let the Hospital’s Executive Chef Jim Roth be your guide as he walks you through a local farmers’ market pointing out how to choose the best produce, how to clean it, store it and then cook with it! Attendees will receive a reusable bag for produce as well as recipes. Registration is required, $5 per market fee.

Saturday, July 17, 3 pm, Lombard, $5

The Lombard French Market is located on St. Charles Rd., just east of Main St. We’ll meet at the Elmhurst Memorial Lombard Health Center, 130 S. Main St., take a healthy walk to the Market and then back to the Health Center for discussion.

Saturday, July 24, 8 am, Oak Park, $5

The Oak Park Farmers’ Market celebrates its 35th anniversary this year; join Chef Jim and see why this market has become a local tradition for many. Market is located at 460 Lake St.

Wednesday, Aug. 4, 8 am, Elmhurst, $5

The Elmhurst Farmers’ Market is located at the corner of York and Vallette Streets. Along with Chef Jim Roth, this session includes an expert from Good Earth Market in Elmhurst, who will discuss produce selection and share one of their signature recipes. Group will meet at Good Earth Market, 555 S. York Rd.

For the men...come get your cholesterol screening as well as a Prostate Specific Antigen test (PSA) along with a Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) performed by a physician on the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Medical Staff. Ladies, come get your cholesterol checked and be on your way! Complimentary blood pressure screenings will also be available.

LifeLine performs screenings for stroke, peripheral artery disease, aneurysms in
the aortic vessel of the abdomen and bone density to detect osteoporosis. Doppler
ultrasound technology makes screenings safe and easy.

Infant/Child CPR

6-8:30 pm, Monday, July 26 or September 27, Lombard Health Center $20

This is a noncertified, video-based class with hands-on practice of CPR and choking relief.
